What are business energy rates in the UK?

Business energy is priced on two parts for each fuel: a unit rate (the price per kWh you use) and a standing charge (a fixed daily fee to keep the supply connected). Typical 2026 rates:

  • Business electricity: around 22p to 30p per kWh, plus 45p to 65p per day standing charge
  • Large business: around 22–26p per kWh, often lower on negotiated contracts

How much does business energy cost?

Your bill is unit rate multiplied by usage, plus the daily standing charge, on each fuel. A low unit rate is not always the cheapest deal: a headline-low unit rate paired with a high standing charge can cost more over the year than a slightly higher unit rate with a low standing charge. What is a standing charge on business energy?

The standing charge is a fixed daily fee you pay on each supply regardless of how much energy you use.
